Richard Mille and the renowned Le Mans Vintage Car Race partnership has come up with 2 new limited edition watches inspired by this legendary annual classic car race which is held in July every year in France. The new Le Mans classic Chronographs called RM008 and RM011, have the designs inspired by the race car engine and have the green Le Mans logo at the 12 o’clock position with yellow and blue accents to match the rumble strips at Le Mans circuit.
This watch celebrates the race in the purest Le Mans Classic style: the minutes and seconds of the chronograph – indicated by the tourbillon – as well as the torque and function displays echo the blue and yellow colours of the rumble strips on the 24-hour circuit. Another reminder of this historic race is the Le Mans Classic logo positioned on the dial, at 12 o’clock. The case in grade 5 titanium is microblasted and features a DLC-treated caseband. The double striped "Le Mans” type bezel is also microblasted.
The 150 limited watch pieces are made with automatic movement and come with a battery reserve of 50 hours. It features the fly-back chronograph, a large date display at 12 o’clock and a 24-hour counter at 6 o’clock.
The 24 hour counter is a signature for the Le Mans races which are 24 hours non stop races. The case is barrel-shaped made of titanium and measures 50mm x 40mm x 16.15mm. More than 200 separate machine operations are required to create this.
The Le Mans Classic limited edition features a tourbillon, has a split-seconds chronograph and also shows the torque and function displays. Cased in a micro-blasted grade 5 titanium and DLC-coated case-band, it has a wound power reserve of 70 hours and measures 48mm x 39.7mm x 14.95mm The RM10 based around this series and available for sale is priced at USD 68,000.
