Girard-Perregaux, known for its avant-garde design statements, debuts a fantastic piece of haute horlogerie with this ultra-modern black DLC-finished titanium bi-axial tourbillon, limited to just 8 pieces. The watch is powered by the Girard-Perregaux inhouse iconic manual-wind caliber GPE0201, with 28 jewels, 21,600 vph with power reserve of 72 hours assisting the watch’s movement. The bi-axial Tourbillon is a master arwork of technology and combines two concentric cages that enable the regulating part to make multi-axis rotations. The main reason for this complex construction is to enable the time piece to compensate for rate of irregularities due to the Earth’s gravity.
The structure is such that an internal cage bearing the balance wheel, balance spring and escapement takes a whole of 45 secs to complete one full turn on its axis. The external cage completes one revolution in 1 min and 15 secs. A complete revolution is made in 3 mins and 45 secs. This movement is an extraordinary visual spectacle.
The 45mm diameter, black DLC-coated titanium case has double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 30 meters and is contrasted by the brushed-finish 18k white gold bridges and bi-axial tourbillon. All in all, Girard-Perregaux has again set a new benchmark with this elegant and stunning creation. Retail price is approximately Euro 380,000.
