Romain Jerome has had a long association with watches inspired from automobiles, especially race cars. The latest Romain Jerome Delorean – DNA is no different. Inspired by the car made famous by the Spielberg flick ‘Back to the Future’, the watch is about 46 mm wide in a stainless steel body like the car itself.
Finer design cues from the car are visible on the watch design, like the signature tail-lights, in red, yellow and orange which make the small seconds counter. The watch is a chronograph with a 30 minute period and a 12 hour counter. The 30 minute counter looks like the tire plates on the Delorean, the rim of the dial is designed to fashion a similar style.
The RJ style bezel which is held together by the cross struts remains in this version too, and too add a dash more of Delorean to the model the rhodium dial houses hands which are made like to dashboard of the car.
The back casing is embossed with the logo of the Delorean with its gull-wing doors opened. This watch is made in a limited edition of 81 pieces commemorating the year 1981 when car was introduced to the public. Each of the watch pieces is numbered. The self winding movement is the showcase of the watch and it provides a 42 hour power reserve.
A fitting tribute to the movie and the Delorean, the watch is priced at USD 15,900
