Richard Mille is Official Timekeeper of the Perini Navi Cup

The Perini Navi Cup is one of the finest regattas in the world, dedicated exclusively to Perini yachts that compete for a few intense days to challenge each other in the Mediterranean Sea. After the first edition in 2004, Perini Navi Cups have been held in 2006, 2009 and 2011, in the beautiful waters of Porto Cervo in Sardinia. Hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the event offers owners of these spectacular yachts a first-class racing series in adventurous waters that combines a healthy air of competition with a full social affair ashore. Exclusive watch maker Richard Mille is the official timekeeper for this regatta.
The four-day event in Porto Cervo attracts a fleet of sailing enthusiasts racing on challenging courses of up to 40 nautical miles around the islands of the Maddalena Archipelago. Perini and the YCCS are famous for their lavish social soirees', as they play hosts to all the participants. The 2011 event saw 13 Perini Navi yachts gather in Porto Cervo, with the 88m Maltese Falcon winning her third consecutive title. The triple-masted superyacht was closely followed by Parsifall III and Panthalassa.
Three days of racing off the dramatic Sardinian coast, plus the chance to meet other Perini owners, gives the Perini Navi Cup a more seductive appeal for yacht owners and guests eligible for this exclusive regatta.
It’s a super rich man’s playground, and to cater to this elite regatta, Swiss watch maker Richard Mille created Richard Mille RM015, the Perini Navi Cup watch. The shape of the crown and case outlines and many other intricate details are inspired by elements found on the superb ocean going vessels designed by Perini Navi.
In particular, the RM 015 Perini Navi Cup draws its inspiration closely from the most exceptional Perini Navi creation, the Maltese Falcon. The 88 metre clipper Maltese Falcon is the largest sailing yacht in the world and with a stiff breeze behind her, Maltese Falcon’s immense DynaRig system powers her to record shattering speeds. The decks, hull shape, windlass, pulleys, screws and various marine details of this remarkable sailing ship are reflected in numerous structures of the watch.
Perini Navi Cup has a tonneau-shaped 18kt gold or white gold case with a suitably impressive 48mm length x 39.3mm width x 13.84mm thickness, this is a watch to flaunt and be noticed. The caseback being transparent allows one to view the manual winding tourbillion movement.
The case is held together by eight titanium screws, enabling more control and agility of the torque. The watch has a skeletonised dial with white Arabic numerals, tourque indicator at 3 o’clock, function selector between 4 and 5 o’clock, 23 jewel calibre RM015 manual-winding tourbillon movement, a 75 hour power reserve indicator between 1 and 2 o’clock, and is water resistant to 50 metres. Priced at USD 400,000.
