By Romit Jethwaney — February 22, 2013
Louis Vuitton, more known for their luxury brand apparel and accessories, has finally tapped into a market space of dive enthusiasts in the watch industry. Alongside the likes of competitors such as Omega, Tag Heuer and IWC, their latest introduction into the market is the Louis Vuitton Tambour Diving II- a diving chronograph.
Crafted to withstand the rigors of diving, the watch features a solid ceramic uni-directional bezel. The black dial sports subdials at the 12 and 6 o’clock and a date display at 3 o’clock. It is diligently able to display the stages of diving decompression around the outer edge. A luminescent display with anti-reflective glass maximizes readability underwater. Waterproof up to 300 meters with a rubber wrist strap and steel case, this watch is ready to weather all sorts of troughs.
Predecessor Tambour Chronograph set sails to the company’s progress in the market with their esteemed affiliation with the America’s Cup Challenger series. Only time will tell if their success can percolate into the dive aficionados’ turf.
Louis Vuitton is certainly surging ahead with their new Tambour Diving II Chronograph watch. Sleek, stylish, and incredibly useful, this is a diving watch made to last underwater and look great outside of it. With just the slightest of nautical touches and all the instruments a diver could wish for, the Tambour Diving Chronograph is a step ahead in the right direction for Louis Vuitton.
The debutant is priced luxuriously at USD 10,000.
